Anaplasmosis

Quick Facts:

Causative Agent: A. phagocytophilum

Primary Vector: Blacklegged (deer) tick

Symptoms: Fever, headache, chills, and muscle aches

Anaplasmosis is the second most common illness spread by ticks in Wisconsin, after Lyme disease.

Human Anaplasmosis is caused by a strain of Anaplasma phagocytophilum (a bacteria) that is transmitted by deer ticks.

Signs and symptoms of anaplasmosis typically begin within 1–2 weeks after the bite of an infected tick.
